Re: “Probe begins on LePage threat to school’s funds” (Page B1, July 18):

Please correct what seems to be your standard description of the Maine Academy of Natural Sciences at Good Will-Hinckley as a “school for at-risk children.”

MeANS is a “charter school” (Maine’s first), available equally to to any student in Maine who wishes to attend and who agrees to behave responsibly.

MeANS enrolls a true cross section of all Maine students, from students who may have challenges to students who, upon enrollment, take classes both at MeANS and at Kennebec Valley Community College, the attractive facilities of which are immediately adjacent to the Good Will-Hinckley campus.

We are proud of these capable young people.
