A strong thunderstorm dumped hail, heavy rain and caused tree damage late Tuesday afternoon as it moved through Somerset County and parts of Kennebec and Waldo counties, officials said.

At one point the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for the system, but no tornadoes were reported.

The towns of Albion and Lisbon were the hardest hit by the storm, and there were reports of 1.5 inch of hail in Lisbon, according to meteorologist Andrew Pohl.

Downed tree limbs contributed to various power outages that peaked with about 4,000 customers out of service, according to Central Maine Power Co.
