SOUTH PORTLAND — Dylan Hapworth’s two-run double down the third-base line drove in the tying and go-ahead runs Thursday as Post 51 of Oakland overcame a six-run deficit and defeated Morrill Post of South Portland 7-6 in the American Legion baseball state tournament.

The seven-run seventh inning gave Post 51 a 2-0 record in the double-elimination event. Morrill is 1-1.

Post 51 took advantage of three errors in the inning to go with five hits and a pair of walks.

Jonathan Wilkie’s bases-loaded single, combined with an error on the play, gave Post 51 its first three runs. Jared Cunningham also had an RBI single in the seventh.

SEBAGO LAKERS 4, BESSEY MOTORS 1: Tanner Laberge pitched a four-hitter with five strikeouts, and belted a triple and a two-run homer, leading the Lakers (1-1) past Bessey Motors (0-2) in an elimination game at the state tournament in South Portland.

Sebago broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth inning when Spencer Hodge singled and eventually scored on Drake Laughlin’s sacrifice fly. Laberge homered in the ninth, with Dana McKay also scoring on the shot high over the left-field fence.

Hodge had singled home Devin Butler for a 1-0 third-inning lead, but Bessey tied it in the bottom of the inning when Brady LaFrance scored on one of Riley Chickering’s two singles.

Laberge, Hodge and Ethan Petty each had two of Sebago’s 10 hits.
