Re: “Our View: Anti-abortion activists trump up fetal ‘scandal’ “ (July 27):

It is a known axiom that when one cannot refute another’s position with accuracy and conviction, one must attack the opponent. This is precisely what you did.

You did not respond at all to the damaging information provided in the video by Dr. Deborah Nucatola, a senior officer of Planned Parenthood. You attacked the messenger.

To quote one part of your lengthy editorial: “The video and the threatened investigation create the impression of scandal where there is no scandal.”

No scandal – when Dr. Nucatola describes in gruesome detail how the abortionist obtains the desired baby organs?

“You’re just kind of cognizant of where you put your graspers, you try to intentionally go above and below the thorax, so that, you know, we’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m going to basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact.”

Other damaging quotes were provided by Dr. Mary Gatter of Planned Parenthood in a second video in which she talked price with the activists.

Dr. Gatter responded to their offer of $100 per sample as follows:

“Let me just figure out what others are getting and if this is in the ballpark, then it’s fine. If it’s still low, then we can bump it up. I want a Lamborghini.”

You may continue your attack against the two videos and the others expected to follow, but both houses of Congress and many states are already pushing for a full investigation and the defunding of Planned Parenthood.
