Officials from the Maine Warden Service and the York County Sheriff’s Office recovered a body Tuesday from Square Pond in Shapleigh.

The victim, Richard Fraser, 65, of Manchester, New Hampshire, was found on the bottom of the pond in about 9 feet of water late Tuesday morning.

The sheriff’s office said they believe Fraser either owned or rented a cottage on Treasure Island.

He disappeared Monday evening. Family members searched for him but could not locate him.

Fraser’s body has been taken to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta to determine cause of death.
