A Rockland man who police say stole a flower that he planned to give to his girlfriend faces charges of felony theft and violating bail conditions.

WMTW-TV reported that Rockland police said Joshua Weston, 33, stole a purple orchid from the Hannaford supermarket in Rockland and had it in a cart filled with groceries that he also took without paying. Weston was arrested Monday night.

Rockland police said the theft charge was upgraded to a felony because of Weston’s prior theft and burglary convictions.

Weston made his initial court appearance Wednesday and was held Wednesday night in the Knox County Jail on $1,000 cash bail, according to a jail official.
