Bring back the Civilian Conservation Corps. They will take care of the emerald ash borer and any other insects that destroy our trees.
In the 1930s and ’40s, the primary function of the camps in Alfred, Lewiston, Bridgton and Jefferson, plus a few other places, was forest protection with disease and insect control. They still could be used to clean up our recreation areas.
