There are limits on the amount that noncitizens can contribute to federal campaigns. Shouldn’t there be similar limits on the amount that out-of-staters can contribute to Maine campaigns?
If I remember correctly, the majority of money to Gov. LePage’s last campaign came from out of state. Maine has a proud tradition of local political involvement; why should out-of-state money be allowed to drown out our own local voices?
