A 38-foot Bayliner was washed ashore at the height of Wednesday’s storm at Bug Light in South Portland.

The owner, who said he was planning to donate the Renaissance to charity, had gotten underway from the South Portland boat ramp on Wednesday when he was overtaken by wind and pushed against some pilings.

The large pleasure boat eventually becoming lodged on shore near Bug Light Park at high tide, said Lt. Scott McCann of the U.S. Coast Guard.

The owner was able to step off the stern and walk to shore, but the boat was left largely out of the water. The owner still was trying to devise a plan to refloat it Thursday, McCann said.
