Portland Sea Dogs general manager Geoff Iacuessa was named the Eastern League Executive of the Year, the league announced Thursday.

Iacuessa, in his 16th year with the franchise and his fifth as general manager, was cited for his work in increasing the Sea Dogs’ attendance, as well as his organizational efforts for the league’s All-Star Game, held in Portland in July.

The Sea Dogs’ attendance hit a franchise low of 5,096 per game in 2013, but rebounded to 5,530 in 2014 and 5,497 in 2015.

“Geoff’s selection … is well deserved,” Eastern League president Joe McEacharn said in a press release. “The outstanding efforts of Geoff and the rest of the Portland staff were on full display with their excellent job in planning and hosting the Eastern League All-Star Classic. Geoff is also universally praised by managers and umpires throughout the league for his hard work and strong communication.”

Iacuessa will receive the award at the Baseball Winter Meetings in Nashville in December.
