A woman was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland following a crash involving a car and a bicycle Wednesday morning.

Police believe the cyclist was crossing Baxter Boulevard when she was hit by a car that had just exited Interstate 295 southbound.

The crash occurred at Bates Street just before 9 a.m.

The woman’s injuries were not considered life threatening. The driver of the car was not hurt.

A police spokesman did not have the names of the people involved.

The crash remains under investigation.
