District 2 has three enthusiastic young candidates vying to represent our diverse and challenging neighborhoods.
I am throwing my support behind Wells Lyons, who has demonstrated an understanding of our issues and concerns.
In particular, I was impressed, even before I met him, that he jumped into opposing the city’s ill-conceived effort to sell the lion’s share of Congress Square Park for development. He stood up to the mayor in a debate and has helped make the park the recognized success that it is today.
He advocates focus on basic city services, including open spaces, and understands that development must protect neighborhoods and benefit taxpayers.
Strategic budgeting must balance spending on the city’s many needs, rather than just continue the spending patterns of the past.
A small-business owner and lawyer, Wells is accessible, responsive, thoughtful and a good listener. These are attributes important to the voters of District 2. Wells Lyons will represent us well.
