City Manager Jon Jennings on Friday announced that Assistant Fire Chief David Jackson will lead the Fire Department while the city searches for a permanent chief.
Jackson will take over Oct. 20, the day the current chief, Jerome LaMoria, leaves.
“Chief Jackson is a capable leader who has overseen emergency operations as assistant chief, and is a dedicated employee who has served the Fire Department for 25 years,” Jennings said.
LaMoria informed Jennings on Oct. 6 that he was resigning from the department. In his resignation letter, LaMoria did not provide any reasons for leaving the job after two and a half years.
