A former Bowdoin College student accused of raping a 20-year-old female student on the Brunswick campus while he was enrolled at the school has been indicted on a felony charge of gross sexual assault.

Logan Taylor, 21, who lived in Brunswick at the time, sexually assaulted the girl on May 24 in his dorm room at Coleman Hall after they ate pizza and drank shots of liquor, according to a police report filed in his court record.

Taylor initially appeared in the Cumberland County Courthouse in Portland on May 26 to face the charge, but he was not required to enter a plea at that time because he had not yet been indicted.

At Taylor’s court appearance in May, a judge set his bail at $5,000 cash, but the terms were later amended and he was released without bail on June 4 from the Cumberland County Jail on condition he submit to supervision by Maine Pretrial Services.

The female student initially called campus security on the night of the alleged attack requesting a ride and told them she was concerned about Taylor, who had been with her earlier in the night.

When she talked further to police, she told them that Taylor had raped her that night on campus. She was taken afterward to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, police said.

The female student told police that Taylor carried her to the bedroom and did not threaten her or hold her down during the alleged attack, according to a police report.

If Taylor is convicted of gross sexual assault, he will face as much as to 30 years in prison.
