NEWARK, N.J. — A Ukrainian man pleaded not guilty Monday to charges he orchestrated a scheme to steal individual computer users’ online bank information and sell it on the black market.

Sergey Vovnenko, who allegedly used aliases such as “Darklife” and “Centurion,” was charged in April in a six-count indictment that was unsealed last week.

He had been living recently in Naples, Italy, before his arrest this month.

Federal prosecutors in Newark allege that Vovnenko and co-conspirators hacked into the computers of an unnamed global financial institution with offices in New Jersey.

He is being held without bail.
