The Maine Secretary of State’s Office has scheduled a recount for Friday in the race to fill the vacant House District 19 seat.

Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap in a news release said the recount will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Fallen Heroes Room of the Maine Department of Public Safety building.

Democrat Jean Noon of Sanford requested the recount after she apparently lost the race by just 14 votes to her Republican opponent, Matthew A. Harrington.

Noon is the widow of Rep. William Noon, who died of cancer July 15. The district covers part of Sanford and the term is one year.

Harrington received 768 votes, Noon got 754 votes, and independent candidate Victor DiGregorio collected 110 votes. Results of the recount will be posted on the Secretary of State’s website as well as the department’s Facebook page.
