FORT MYERS, Fla. — Sophie Weckstrom made a 3-pointer to give the University of Maine women’s basketball team a two-point lead with five minutes to play and Sigi Koizar scored a career-high 30 points in a 69-65 win over Missouri State in the Gulf Coast Showcase on Saturday.

Maine (4-3) pushed the lead to 62-55 with 3:53 to play before Missouri State (2-4) rallied to get within one, 64-63, with 48 seconds left.

Maine made five of six free throws in the final seconds to secure the win.

Liz Wood added 13 points and eight rebounds for Maine. Weckstrom finished with 12 points and five assists.

Tyonna Snow scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Missouri State.

BOWDOIN 69, SALVE REGINA 39: The Polar Bears (2-2) opened the game with a 13-0 run and beat the Seahawks (1-5) at Newport, Rhode Island.

Shannon Brady scored 10 points to lead Bowdoin. Kate Kerrigan and Lydia Caputi each scored eight.

MEN’S HOCKEY

ENDICOTT 6, BOWDOIN 3: Ross Olsson and Thomas Daniles both had a goal and two assists and the Gulls (5-1-2) beat the Polar Bears (0-3-1) in Waterville.

Thomas Daniels, Cam Bleck, John Carricato and Lloyd Hayes also scored for Endicott. Chris Wallace, Austin Ricci and Camil Blanchet all scored for Bowdoin.

Mark Schiller made 27 saves for Bowdoin.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 4, DANIEL WEBSTER 2: Ryan Quinn scored two third-period goal, including the game-winner as the Nor’easters (3-4-1) beat the Eagles (3-4-0) in the PAL Stovepipe Tournament hosted by Southern New Hampshire University, at Hooksett, New Hampshire.

Trevor Fleurent and Tom Gildersleeve also scored for UNE. Mason Riley made 18 saves for the Nor’easters.

SOUTHERN MAINE 7, WENTWORTH 2: Parker Sanderson, Jimmy Curry and Kyle Huhn each scored empty-net goals in the final minute of play as the Huskies (5-4) beat Leopards (3-6-1) in Gorham.

Southern Maine’s Tyler Mathieu and Wentworth’s Jake McDonough both scored in the first period. USM took the lead on a goal by Chad O’Brien in the second and Alex Pantalone made it 3-1 in the third. Wentworth got within one on a boal by Jack Flynn, but Zach Dymock pushed USM’s lead back to two before the three empty netters.

Kyle Shapiro finished with 21 saves for USM and Joel Miller had 36 for Wentworth.

COLBY 1, UMASS-BOSTON 1, OT: Emerson Verrier stopped a penalty shot with two seconds left in overtime as the Mules (0-2-1) tied the Beacons (6-0-1) in Waterville.

Griffin Fadden scored his first collegiate goal to give Colby a 1-0 lead in the second period. Garrison Sanipass tied it for UMass-Boston later in the period.

Billy Faust stopped 27 shots for the Beacons, while Verrier had 31 saves for Colby.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

ROBERT MORRIS 3, MAINE 0: Mackenzie Johnston set up Ashley Vesci for the game’s first goal late in the second period, and then extended the lead to 2-0 eight minutes into the third period to lead the Colonials (9-5-2) past the Black Bears (6-11) in Orono.

Mikaela Lowater added a power-play goal.

Jessica Dodds finished with 27 saves for Robert Morris, and Meghann Treacy 37 for Maine.

HOLY CROSS 4, BOWDOIN 1: The Crusaders (7-2) scored twice in the first period on their way to a win over the Polar Bears (1-2) in Worcester.

Elizabeth Scala, Kelsey Goostrey, Lauren Abbenante and Sam Girard all scored for Holy Cross. Marissa Fichter scored for Bowdoin. Lan Crofton had 43 saves for the Polar Bears.
