Bangor police identified the victim Monday in a shooting that left a second person wounded.

Robert Kennedy, 38, of Bangor was shot and killed Friday morning at 201 Center St., police Sgt. Tim Cotton said.

The name of the person who was wounded is still not being released, Cotton said. However, police confirmed that the person had surgery for gunshot wounds at a Bangor hospital.

On Friday night, Bangor police arrested two Brooklyn, New York, men in connection with the shooting, which was reported around 3:30 a.m. at a two-story apartment building on Center Street. The men were arrested during a traffic stop on Hammond Street.

Robert Hansley, 27, and Thomas Ferguson, 37, are being held in the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor, charged with murder and elevated aggravated assault. They are scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

The Bangor Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is continuing to gather details and interview witnesses about the shooting. Cotton said no further details are being released at this time.

The state Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy on Kennedy’s body over the weekend, but the findings were not available Monday.
