Tristan Wasley is a groundskeeper at Old Farm Christmas Place in Cape Elizabeth. He’s worked at the farm, where customers can pick out and cut down their own Christmas trees, for two years. After years of hospitality jobs, Wasley, 30, likes the serenity of being out in the fields. “The trees keep to themselves,” he said. But Wasley also enjoys helping customers with their trees – and roasting marshmallows with kids at the warming hut. “There isn’t much not to like,” he said. Wasley said he’s learned a lot about trees and “good farming techniques” from owner Jay Cox. “It’s very meticulous,” he said. “I often walk 14 or 15 miles a day, pruning each tree by hand.” Wasley makes about $22,000 a year, and he picks up a second job for a couple months in the winter.
