Lincoln Holdzkom, 33, a pitcher with the Portland Sea Dogs in 2007, has died from injuries sustained in a car accident, according to news reports.

He died at 6:03 a.m. Sunday at Pomona Valley Medical Center in California after the vehicle he was driving collided with a guardrail.

Holdzkom, the older brother of Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher John Holdzkom, was born in California but grew up in New Zealand. He appeared in 30 games with the Sea Dogs, posting a 4-1 record with one save.
