Local author Emily Kinney will discuss her novel “The Island of Lote,” the story of a young girl’s desires to put distance between herself and a family she doesn’t understand – only to discover the meaning of home and love when a plane crash leaves her stranded on an uncharted tropical island, where she must learn to communicate with people of a foreign language and culture.
