A Milo woman is dead after she crashed her car Tuesday evening on Interstate 95 in Medway, Maine State Police said.

Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said the victim, whose name won’t be released until Wednesday, appears to have become distracted while talking on her cellphone.

The woman, who was driving in the southbound lane, was killed instantly, McCausland said. She was wearing a seat belt.

Her car drifted into the median and turned over several times before coming to rest on its roof. The accident was reported at 6:45 p.m.

State troopers said the accident was not related to the weather, according to McCausland.

Medway is in Penobscot County near East Millinocket.
