McKegg, Shane Harper and Wayne Simpson scored in the third period to stretch Portland’s lead.

After Harper scored for the Pirates with less than eight minutes remaining, seven penalties were handed out between the teams as tensions rose, giving Portland two more power-play opportunities as the game wound down.
