Mike McKenna set a franchise record with his 12th straight victory, stopping 19 shots Saturday night before a crowd of 3,610 at Cross Insurance Arena as the Portland Pirates beat the Bridgeport Sound Tigers for the second straight night, 3-1.

McKenna allowed only a third-period goal by Bracken Kearns after the Pirates built a 3-0 lead. McKenna broke a tie with Jhonas Enroth, who won 11 straight games during the 2009-10 season.

Rob Schremp, Garrett Wilson and Dylan Olsen scored for the Pirates in their fourth straight victory. Portland has won 12 of its last 14 games to climb into second place in the American Hockey League’s Atlantic Division.

The Pirates converted the game’s first power-play chance, as Schremp notched his 15th goal of the season at 16:11 of the first period. Cameron Gaunce and Mackenzie Weeger were credited with assists.

Wilson made it 2-0 at 15:11 of the second period, finishing off a two-on-one rush with Greg McKegg for his seventh goal of the season. Wilson has scored in three straight games.

Olsen, coming off a two-point game in Friday’s 5-1 win over Bridgeport, gave the Pirates a little more insurance with a blast from the point 4:53 into the third period. Chase Bailsy assisted on Olsen’s second goal of the season.
