BOSTON — Tim Boetsch of Lincolnville suffered a second-round knockout Sunday night in a light heavyweight bout against Ed Herman during UFC Fight Night 81 at the TD Garden.

Boetsch started strong, winning the first round, before getting caught in a Muay Thai clinch and taking a vicious knee to the chin midway through the second round.

It was the third straight loss for Boetsch, 34, dropping his career record to 18-10. Herman improved to 23-11.

Boetsch, a four-time state wrestling champion for Camden-Rockport High and a member of the Maine Wrestling Hall of Fame, became a top-ranked middleweight on the strength of an 8-1 record from 2009 to 2012. Since then, he has lost six of his last eight fights.
