PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Rob Schremp scored his 16th goal of the season with 41 seconds remaining in overtime Sunday afternoon, and the Portland Pirates extended their winning streak to five games with a 2-1 victory over the Providence Bruins.

Sam Brittain made a career-high 45 saves for the Pirates, who have allowed only five goals during their winning streak.

Portland has earned at least a point in 17 of its last 20 games, going 16-3-1, including four wins and an overtime loss against Providence.

Pirates defenseman Brent Regner opened the scoring at 7:51 of the second period as Portland capitalized on its first power-play opportunity. Shane Harper and Rocco Grimaldi assisted on Regner’s second goal of the season.

It’s the fifth consecutive game in which the Pirates have scored at least one power-play goal.

Colton Hargrove tied it at 1:19 of the third period for Providence, which had a 10-game home winning streak snapped on Sunday, redirecting a centering pass from Seth Griffith.

Malcolm Subban finished with 30 saves for the Bruins.
