Mike McKenna made 38 saves, Brett Olson and Wade Megan each had a goal, and the Portland Pirates won their sixth straight game, beating the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 2-1 at the Cross Insurance Arena on Friday night.

Portland scored both goals in the first period. Olson notched his seventh of the year 1:57 in with assists from Brent Regner and Garrett Wilson. Megan got his fifth, unassisted, at 9:45.

Clark Seymour scored for the Penguins with assists from former University of Maine defenseman Will O’Neill and Dominik Uher at 1:26 of the second.

The Penguins put 16 shots on McKenna in the period.

It was the second-largest save total of the season for McKenna, who stopped 40 shots in a win over St. John’s on Jan. 9, and third best overall for the Pirates. Reserve Sam Brittain made 45 saves on Sunday at Providence.

NOTE: The Florida Panthers recalled defenseman Dylan Olsen. Olsen had a goal and five assists in the nine games of his most recent reassignment to Portland. Olsen has one assist in eight games with Florida.
