Westbrook police are continuing to search for two men they say robbed a car wash and assaulted the owner and his wife late Monday night.

Tom and Jerry’s Car Wash on Main Street was robbed shortly before the 9 p.m. closing time, police said in a statement. There have been no arrests.

The robbers tied up the owner, ransacked the business and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Chief Janine Roberts said Tuesday afternoon that the car wash owner’s wife was also there at the time of the robbery and was bound along with her husband, but was not injured.

“We are not releasing many details of the incident as we are currently pursuing leads and believe public release of the information may negatively impact our investigation,” Roberts said in a statement.

Roberts did say investigators on Tuesday collected evidence and conducted follow-up interviews with the victims.
