SOUTH HIRAM — Helen Ruhlin scored nine points to lead a balanced offense Thursday night as Sacopee Valley defeated North Yarmouth Academy 40-24 in a Western Maine Conference schoolgirl basketball game.

Seven players scored for the Hawks (7-8) in the second quarter as they outscored NYA 21-1 to erase a 9-3 first-quarter deficit.

Margaret Larson scored a game-high 16 points for the Panthers (1-14).

RANGELEY 44, PINE TREE ACADEMY 23: Blayke Morin had 12 points, 10 rebounds and five steals to lift the Lakers (15-1) over Pine Tree Academy (9-8) at Farmington.

Sydney Royce added 12 points and seven rebounds, and Amelia McMillan chipped in 10 points for Rangeley.

Alexandra Goodman led Pine Tree with six points.

LEWISTON 50, MT. ARARAT 45: Morgan Eliasen scored a game-high 18 points for the Blue Devils (8-8), who pulled away in the final minutes to defeat the Eagles (1-14) at Topsham.

Lauren Sturgess had 18 points and 14 rebounds, and Nikki Bradstreet chipped in 11 points for the Eagles, who tied the game with just over two minutes remaining.

Kristina Blais added 11 points and Victoria Harris scored 10 for Lewiston, which outrebounded Mt. Ararat, 44-30.

LINCOLN ACADEMY 50, OCEANSIDE 43: The Eagles (14-2) used a 12-6 run in the third quarter to open a 34-24 lead and held off the Mariners (7-9) at Newcastle.

Brie Wajer had 14 points, seven boards, and five steals, and Samantha Burke added 10 points and eight rebounds for Lincoln.

Mekanna Brooks scored 16 points for Oceanside.

LEAVITT 56, BRUNSWICK 50: Chantel Eells finished with 18 points, 16 rebounds and eight assists to lift the Hornets (8-8) to an overtime win over the Dragons (10-6) at Brunswick.

Leavitt trailed 46-43 when Liz Goulette made a 3-pointer with 4.3 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime.

Goulette added 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Sophia Gilbert had 12 points and 15 rebounds for the Hornets.

Adrianna White scored 18 points and Sabrina Armstrong added 10 for Brunswick.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

SACOPEE VALLEY 66, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 57: Cam Cyr had a game-high 17 points, including 11 in the first half, to lead four players in double figures as the Hawks (2-13) downed the Panthers (3-12) at South Hiram.

Will Goforth had 16 points, including three 3-pointers, for Sacopee Valley. Jameson Dehmer had 11 points and Brady Denison tossed in 10.

Haven Cutko scored 30 points for NYA, including 13 of 16 from the foul line.

PINE TREE ACADEMY 56, RANGELEY 50: Alex Milano scored 16 points to pace the Breakers (11-6) over Rangeley (5-11) at Farmington.

J.P. Tashamala added 13 points for Pine Tree.

WELLS 53, FREEPORT 34: Dylan MacKay scored 10 of his game-high 16 points in the first half as the Warriors (8-7) took a 24-17 lead and handled the Falcons (2-14) at Wells.

Wells then scored the first eight points of the third quarter.

WISCASSET 76, ST. DOMINIC 24: Zach Reed and Brandon Sprague had 18 points and seven boards each as the Wolverines (12-4) rolled past the Saints (0-16) at Wiscasset.

BOYS’ HOCKEY

KENNEBUNK 4, CAPE ELIZABETH 2: Donovan Connor scored a pair of goals, and Kyle Beaupre collected one goal and two assists for the Rams (6-6-1), who scored three second-period goals to pull away from the Capers (4-6-2) at Portland.

Kennebunk opened the scoring on a goal by William O’Neill 1:36 into the second period. Beaupre and Connor added goals in the next four minutes to extend the lead to 3-0.
