The Portland Pirates have hired Nick Vitucci as their new assistant coach, the team announced Thursday.
Vitucci had served as director of hockey operations for the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye for the past seven seasons. He will take over the position vacated by Scott Allen when Allen was promoted to head coach on Jan. 1.
Vitucci, 48, served five seasons as the Walleye’s head coach, compiling a 294-275-8-48 record. He played briefly for the Maine Mariners during the 1991-92 season.
