BRUNSWICK — Shannon Brady scored 20 points and Bowdoin built a 20-point halftime lead on its way to an 80-51 win over Hamilton in a New England Small College Athletic Conference women’s basketball game Friday night.

Bowdoin (16-5, 9-2 NESCAC) led 43-23 at halftime and opened the third quarter with a 10-4 run.

Ally Silfen scored 15 points as a reserve for the Polar Bears, while Kate Kerrigan and Lydia Caputi each tossed in eight points.

Sam Graber led Hamilton (7-14, 1-6) with 16 points.

COLBY 65, MIDDLEBURY 47: Carylanne Wolfington scored 23 points for the Mules (12-9, 4-3 NESCAC) in a win over the Panthers (11-9, 3-4) at Waterville.

Desi Smith added 15 points and Mia Diplock scored 11 for Colby, which led 21-10 after one quarter and 35-20 by halftime.

AMHERST 63, BATES 44: Amherst (20-0, 6-0 NESCAC) jumped out to a 39-22 first-half lead and cruised past the Bobcats (6-12, 2-5) in Amherst, Massachusetts.

Meredith Doswell paced a balanced Amherst offense with 12 points.

Nina Davenport led Bates with 15 points, while Allie Coppola had 13 points and 16 rebounds.

(5) MARYLAND 85, (17) MICHIGAN STATE 76: Shatori Walker-Kimbrough scored 30 points, Brionna Jones had 17 points and 17 rebounds, and the Terrapins (21-2, 10-1 Big Ten) beat the visiting Spartans (17-5, 8-3) for their ninth straight victory.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

AMHERST 88, BATES 69: Amherst (17-3, 5-1 NESCAC) opened the second half with an 18-4 run to pull away from the Bobcats (10-10, 2-4) in Lewiston.

Bates got 17 points from Mike Boornazian, 13 from Marcus Delpeche, 11 from Jerome Darling and 10 from Josh Britten.

MEN’S HOCKEY

SOUTHERN MAINE 2, ST. ANSELM 1: Zach Dymock scored the go-ahead goal on a power play with 11:12 remaining as the Huskies (6-15-1, 3-12 NEHC) edged the Hawks (10-8-3, 6-6-3) in Gorham.

Dymock assisted on Tyler Mathieu’s goal in the first period. Bryan Sullivan of St. Anselm tied it in the second period.

Kyle Shapiro stopped 24 shots for the Huskies.

BOWDOIN 3, AMHERST 1: Spencer Antunez broke a 1-1 tie with a power-play goal late in the second period, lifting the Polar Bears (9-7-3, 5-5-3 NESCAC) to a win over Amherst (6-9-4, 4-6-3) at Amherst, Massachusetts.

Bowdoin’s Austin Ricci scored the only goal of the first period. Thomas Lindstrom tied it with a power-play goal in the second period, but Antunez put the Polar Bears back in front just 40 seconds later.

Matthew Lison added an unassisted goal in the final minute.

Peter Cronin stopped 36 shots for the Polar Bears.

COLBY 2, HAMILTON 1: Nick O’Connor’s goal with 27 seconds left in overtime gave the Mules (7-8-4, 4-7-2 NESCAC) a win over the Continentals (12-5-2, 7-4-2) in Clinton, New York.

Geoff Sullivan also scored for Colby and Emerson Verrier made 32 saves.

NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE 6, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 4: Bryce Neilsen recorded a hat trick and Brett Kilar made 45 saves to lead the Pilgrims (11-7-4, 6-5-4 NEHC) past the Nor’easters (11-9-2, 7-7-1) at Biddeford.

UNE erased three one-goal deficits in the second period before Neilsen’s third goal made it 4-3 late in the period.

Nick Wirth, Dustin Walsh, Ian Rodden and Tyler Fleurent had a goal apiece for UNE.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

BOWDOIN 2, HAMILTON 0: Miranda Bell’s goal 2:49 into the game was enough for Bowdoin (8-8-2, 5-5-1 NESCAC) in a win over the Continentals (10-7, 4-5-2) at Brunswick.

Ariana Bourque added an unassisted goal in the third period, and Lan Crofton stopped all 24 shots she faced.

CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 2, COLBY 1: Ashley Anctil’s unassisted goal with 4:39 remaining gave the Camels (11-7-1, 5-5-1 NESCAC) a win over the Mules (5-12-3, 3-9-1) in Waterville.

Sasha Fritts scored tying goal for Colby midway through the third period.

HOLY CROSS 4, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 1: The Crusaders (18-2, 10-2 NEHC) built an early 3-0 lead and cruised past the Nor’easters (11-6-2, 6-5-1) in Biddeford.

Gabby Crugnale scored a power-play goal and Sydney Helmbrecht made 29 saves for UNE.

PLYMOUTH STATE 3, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: Emily Auby scored the go-ahead goal early in third period as the Panthers (6-13, 2-9 NEHC) defeated the Huskies (2-15-2, 1-9-2) at Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Cassandra Sherman put USM ahead early in the second period.
