Nettie Walsh scored 13 points and dished out five assists, and Portland High held on for a 55-52 victory over rival Deering in an SMAA girls’ basketball regular-season finale Thursday at the Portland Expo.

Rose Griffin added 12 points, and Taylor Sargent and Katherine Johnson scored 10 apiece for the Bulldogs (2-16), who held a five-point lead going into the fourth quarter.

Deering (11-7) led 14-9 at the end of the first quarter, but the Bulldogs outscored the Rams 18-10 in the second quarter to erase that deficit.

Amanda Brett led the Rams with 18 points, and Tasia Titherington added 14.

GORHAM 68, WINDHAM 33: Emily Esposito had 24 points, including four 3-pointers, as the Rams dominated the host Eagles to complete an undefeated season.

Mackenzie Holmes had 15 points for Gorham (18-0), while Kaylea Lundin added nine points.

Sadie Nelson had 15 points for Windham (8-10).

WAYNFLETE 28, SACOPEE VALLEY 24: Isabel Burdick hit a pair of free throws with 10 seconds remaining to seal it, and the Flyers (7-11) earned a Class C South tournament berth with a win over the Hawks (9-9) at South Hiram.

Lydia Giguere led the offense for Waynflete with 12 points, while Annika Brooks added eight points.

Abigail Hughes led Sacopee Valley with 10 points.

TRAIP ACADEMY 50, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 38: Cassidy Delano scored 15 points, Jessica MacNeill added 12 and the Rangers (7-11) locked up a Class C South playoff spot with a win over the Seagulls (7-11) at Old Orchard Beach.

Traip outscored the Seagulls 15-7 in the fourth quarter to pull away.

Brianna Plante paced Old Orchard with 15 points.

GREELY 60, FALMOUTH 30: Anna DeWolfe was the offensive force for the Rangers (16-2), scoring 28 points as Greely rolled past the Yachtsmen (5-13) at Falmouth.

Molly Chapin had 15 points on five baskets from behind the three-point arc to help Greely take a 33-18 halftime lead.

Abigail Ryan led Falmouth with 11 points, including three 3-pointers.

SOUTH PORTLAND 53, WESTBROOK 38: Maddie Hasson scored 18 points, including 13 in the first half when South Portland grabbed a 30-19 lead, and the Red Riots (15-3) downed the Blue Blazes (9-9) at Westbrook.

The Red Riots had three others in double figures: Meghan Graff (12), Kathryn Whitmore (11) and Lydia Henderson (10).

Alisha Aube scored 21 points for Westbrook.

MCAULEY 42, CHEVERUS 25: Jess Willerson had 18 points and nine rebounds for McAuley (16-2) in a win over visiting Cheverus (10-8).

Sarah Clement also pulled down nine rebounds for the Lions, who outscored the Stags 27-10 in the second half.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 51, POLAND 23: Alicia Dumont scored 14 points off the bench to pace the Patriots (14-4) as they downed the Knights (7-11) in Gray.

Skye Conley added 12 points for Gray-New Gloucester, which outscored Poland 17-6 in the second quarter to build a 26-10 halftime lead.

Poland was led by Nathalie Theriault with 11 points.

LAKE REGION 62, FREEPORT 48: Kristen Huntress scored 22 points and Spencer True had 19 as the Lakers (14-4) handled the Falcons (9-9) at Freeport.

Huntress scored 11 points in the fourth quarter as the Lakers closed with a 21-11 run.

Melody Millett finished with 11 points for Lake Region.

Taylor Rinaldi had 11 points for the Falcons.

BOOTHBAY 44, MADISON 27: Page Brown scored 21 points to lift the Seahawks to a win at Boothbay Harbor.

Faith Blethen added nine points for Boothbay (17-1).

Kayla Bess led Madison (11-7) with nine points.

THORNTON ACADEMY 44, BIDDEFORD 34: Thornton Academy (11-7) used a full-court press in the second half to rally from an eight-point deficit and defeat Biddeford (2-16) at Saco.

Thornton outscored the Tigers 31-14 after halftime. Kaylee Burns led the Trojans with 11 points, and Ashley Howe scored 10.

Most of Biddeford’s points came from Brittany Roy (16) and Brook Davis (10).

YARMOUTH 41, WELLS 36: Alison Clark had 14 points and seven rebounds, and the Clippers (8-10) withstood a late charge from the Warriors (9-9) at Yarmouth.

Cory Langenbach added 10 points.

OXFORD HILLS 50, LEAVITT 25: Erin Morton scored 18 points to lead Oxford Hills (15-3) over Leavitt (9-9) at Turner.

The Hornets took a 13-9 lead in the first quarter, but the Vikings rallied in the second quarter with a 19-2 run, then held the Hornets to 10 points in the second half.

LINCOLN ACADEMY 55, MARANACOOK 26: Chloe Hallowell hit two 3-pointers in the first quarter to help Lincoln Academy (16-2) take an early 22-6 lead in its win over Maranacook (0-18) at Newcastle.

Dorothy Hodous was the high scorer for Lincoln with nine points.

MARSHWOOD 44, NOBLE 25: Hailey Tarr scored 11 points as the Hawks (10-8) downed the Knights (1-17) at North Berwick.

MASSABESIC 45, SANFORD 42: Madison Drain scored 16 points, Emma Desrochers added 12 and Skylar Renaud had 11 as the Mustangs (5-13) held off the Spartans (5-13) at Sanford.

Summer Camire had 19 points for Sanford.

BONNY EAGLE 44, SCARBOROUGH 34: Cassidy Emery had 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, as the Scots (8-10) got past the Red Storm (7-11) at Standish.

Mia Ferrante added 10 points for Bonny Eagle.

Brooke Malone was 11 of 14 at the free-throw line for Scarborough and finished with 16 points.

WINSLOW 54, MORSE 36: Heather Kervin scored 16 points to lift the host Black Raiders to a win.

Weslee Littlefield added 14 points for Winslow (15-3).

Morse (10-8) was led by Signe Ostergaard with 10 points.

EDWARD LITTLE 67, MT. ARARAT 35: The Red Eddies (14-4) leapt to a 29-15 halftime lead and cruised past the Eagles (1-17) at Auburn.

Emily Jacques had 19 points for Edward Little. Lauren Sturgess led Mt. Ararat with nine.

GARDINER 56, OCEANSIDE 44: The host Tigers rallied to a win, outscoring the Mariners 35-12 in the second half.

Mary Toman had 12 of her 18 points after halftime and also grabbed 16 rebounds for Gardiner (14-4).

Oceanside (8-10) got 15 points from Makenna Brooks.

LAWRENCE 87, CAMDEN HILLS 47: The Bulldogs took a 48-21 halftime lead and cruised to a win at Fairfield to finish a perfect regular season.

Nia Irving had 22 points for Lawrence (18-0). Camden Hills (5-13) was led by Maddy Bowman with 12.
