BANGOR — Lewiston and Central Aroostook successfully defended their titles, and Old Town and Orono also emerged as champions Saturday at the cheerleading state championships at Cross Insurance Center.

Lewiston earned 90.8 of a possible 100 points to win its second straight Class A championship and its fifth title in six years. Bangor was second with 82.1 points, followed by Noble (78.5), Gorham (78.1), Marshwood (77) and Thornton Academy (76.3)

Central Aroostook took home another Class D title – its third in a row and eighth in nine years. The Panthers received 61.8 points, which was enough to edge Penobscot Valley (59.1), Bangor Christian (59.0) and Machias (58.7)

In the afternoon session, Old Town collected its first Class B championship since 2000, and Orono became a first-time champion in Class C.
