SACO — Sami Shoebottom completed a hat trick with two goals in the last four minutes, and Scarborough advanced to the South regional final of the girls’ hockey playoffs with a 3-0 win Saturday over York at MHG Ice Centre.

The top-seeded Red Storm (17-1-1) had a 37-3 edge in shots during the first two periods but led only 1-0, and goaltender Sophia Stephens kept fourth-seeded York (10-10) within range of pulling off an upset. Stephens finished with 48 saves.

Shoebottom finally tacked on an insurance goal with 3:23 remaining, then scored again just 1:01 later as she shot the puck past Stephens while falling to the ice.

Courtney Brochu assisted on Shoebottom’s first goal just 3:06 into the game.

FALMOUTH 11, CHEVERUS/KENNEBUNK/OLD ORCHARD 0: Marcy Kittredge and Martina St. Angelo had two goals apiece in the first period to help the second-seeded Yachtsmen (15-2-2) roll past the third-seeded Stags (12-8) in a South semifinal at Family Ice Center.

Sarah Noyes and Sarah Hutcheon also finished with two goals apiece. The Yachtsmen didn’t allow a shot over the final two periods.

ST. DOM’S 6, LEWISTON/MONMOUTH/OAK HILL 0: The second-seeded Saints (17-2) got goals from six players in a North semifinal win over the No. 3 Blue Devils (11-8-1) at Norway Savings Bank Arena.

Lexie Kasaris scored the only goal of the first period, and second-period goals by Bugsy Hammerton and Isabel Frenette made it 3-0.

Emma Theriault, Dasha Fons and Tia Rotolico scored in the third period.

St. Dom’s will face top-ranked Greely in the regional final Wednesday at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.

BOYS’ HOCKEY

CAPE ELIZABETH 8, MARANACOOK/WINTHROP 0: Ben Ekedahl and Sean Agrondia each scored two goals for Cape Elizabeth (6-8-2) in a win over Maranacook (0-17) at Kents Hill.

Alec Riggle and James Boeschenstein each had three assists for the Capers, who outshot the Black Bears, 57-14.

YARMOUTH 4, BRUNSWICK 1: Patrick Grant scored two goals and set up another as the Clippers (12-3) skated past the Dragons (8-7-1) at Travis Roy Arena.

Walter Conrad got the only goal of the first period, set up by Cooper May, who finished with a goal and three assists.

Jacob Doring tied it with an unassisted goal midway through the second period, but Grant put the Clippers back in front with a power-play goal less than three minutes later.

Dan Latham made 18 saves for Yarmouth.

YORK 3, GORHAM 1: Tommy Carr one-timed a shot off the post for a power-play goal that broke a 1-1 tie early in the third period, lifting the Wildcats (10-5) over the Rams (7-9) in Dover, New Hampshire.

Carr set up Nick Giles for an insurance goal later in the period.

York led 1-0 after one period on a goal by Andrew Bertolini. Will Baxter tied it with an unassisted goal in the second period.

THORNTON ACADEMY 7, NOBLE/WELLS 2: Reagan Wintle scored three goals and added an assist to lead the Trojans (8-5-1) over the Knights (5-8) at Rochester Ice Arena.

Chandler Bilodeau added two goals and an assist for the Trojans, who also got goals from Logan Picard and Luke Chessie.

Evan Whitten and Ethan Marsh scored for Noble/Wells, which was outshot, 58-14.

WATERVILLE 6, JOHN BAPST 1: Nick Denis and Andrew Roderigue each scored two goals to lift the Purple Panthers to a win.

Michael Oliveira added a goal and two assists for Waterville (14-1-1), and Zach Smith had the other goal. Cody Pellerin chipped in with two assists.

Tyler Wheeler scored for John Bapst (8-5). Dan Sprague stopped 35 shots.

BANGOR 2, CONY 1: Cam Burpee and Trevor DeLaite scored to lift Bangor to a win in Hallowell.

Derek Fournier made 26 saves for Bangor (8-4-2).

Riley Boivin scored off an assist from Connor Perry for Cony (11-6). Tom Small made 21 saves.

Mark Abreu contributed a goal and four assists, and Tyler Lacascio, Tyler Halls and Sam Alexander also scored.

Zack Callahan scored the only goal for Windham/Westbrook (11-4).

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

LAWRENCE 76, OXFORD HILLS 45: Nia Irving had 34 points and 18 rebounds to pace the Bulldogs to a win over the Vikings in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A championship game in Augusta.

Camryn Caldwell added 12 points for Lawrence.

Tiana Sugars and Erin Eastman each scored 12 points for Oxford Hills.
