PITTSBURGH — Sidney Crosby scored on a pair of breakaways to extend his goal streak to a career-best seven games and added two assists to help the Pittsburgh Penguins continue their surge with a 6-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Monday night.

Chris Kunitz, Conor Sheary, Carl Hagelin and Olli Maatta also scored for the Penguins, who have won 6 of 7.

Crosby, mired in a massive slump early in the year, has 53 points in 51 games.

Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 36 shots.

RANGERS 2, DEVILS 1: Henrik Lundqvist made 27 saves and host New York posted its first three-game winning streak since November.

SENATORS 5, LIGHTNING 1: Mark Stone had two goals and an assist as Ottawa won at home.

RED WINGS 3, PANTHERS 0: Pavel Datsyuk scored twice in a 1:08 span midway through the third after Tomas Tatar broke a scoreless tie earlier in the period, and Petr Mrazek made 23 saves in a win at Detroit.

NOTES

JETS: Winnipeg signed defenseman Dustin Byfuglien, 30, to a $38 million, five-year extension.

BLUES: Defenseman Alex Pietrangelo, 26, was placed on injured reserve with a right knee injury that will be re-evaluated in three weeks.

RANGERS: Coach Alain Vigneault said defenseman Ryan McDonough is still feeling the concussion effects of being punched in the face by Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds on Saturday.

The NHL did not fine or suspend Simmonds, which miffed the Rangers’ coach.

Said Vigneault: “An All-Star player gets sucker-punched, goes down. I wonder if that’s (Sidney) Crosby, what happens? What are the consequences?”
