BIDDEFORD — Lauren Hayden scored 15 points and had nine steals on Wednesday night as the University of New England clinched its fifth consecutive Commonwealth Coast Conference regular-season women’s basketball title with a 62-54 win over Endicott.

Hayden had nine points in the third quarter when UNE used a 20-14 run to take a 49-39 lead.

Alana Vose added 13 points, while Megan Gribbin and Olivia Shaw had 10 apiece for the Nor’easters (19-3, 15-0).

Kelsey Cuddy had 20 points for the Gulls (13-9, 11-4).

UMASS-BOSTON 69, USM 68: Grace Geary scored 33 points, including the winner on a free throw with 1 second left, and the Beacons (13-9, 5-6 Little East) edged the Huskies (12-10, 6-5) at Gorham.

Ella Ramonas made a pair of free throws to pull Southern Maine to within one, 66-65, with 22 seconds left.

Geary then made two free throws to make it 68-65, before Ramonas tied it on a 3-pointer with 6 seconds remaining.

Ramonas finished with 16 points and Megan Pelletier had 20 for the Huskies.

SMCC 58, CMCC 53: Alicia Hoyt and Sammie Griffin each scored 13 points as the Seawolves (20-7, 9-4 YSCC) beat the Mustangs (18-8, 9-4) at Auburn.

Trailing 48-38 with 7:39 left, the Seawolves rallied with an 11-0 run, and Hoyt gave them the lead for good at 54-51 on a layup with 1:28 left.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

USM 74, UMASS-BOSTON 53: Cole Libby scored 20 points and Aaron Toman had 16 as the host Huskies (12-9, 6-4 LEC) downed the Beacons (6-14, 2-8).

The Beacons chipped away at a 10-point halftime deficit to make it 52-46 with 9:33 left, the but Huskies put it away with a 13-2 run. Toman had 10 points during the rally.

Atencio Martin finished with 13 points and Zach Leal had 11 for the Huskies.

ENDICOTT 68, UNE 61: Daquan Sampson scored 15 points for the Gulls (13-9, 10-5 CCC) in a win at Biddeford.

The Nor’easters (11-11, 6-9) led for most of the second half, but the Gulls finally tied it at 50 on 3-pointer by Chris Lipscomb with 5:47 left. The Gulls then closed with an 18-11 run.

UNE’s Gavin Dibble had 17 points and Devin Thompson 12.

CMCC 85, SMCC 83: Rob Skinner scored six of his 23 points in overtime as the Mustangs (19-7, 11-3 YSCC) held off the Seawolves (12-16, 8-5) at Auburn.

Carrington Miller added 21 points for CMCC.

Matt Talbot led the Seawolves with 21 points. Ville Wuorenjuuri added 18, Jordan DeRosby 12 and John Morgan 11.

SMCC rallied from an 11-point deficit, tying it on Matthew Jarrett’s 3-point play with 36 seconds left in regulation.
