Scarborough police are encouraging anyone with information about the killing of Ashley Ouellette 17 years ago to come forward.

The 15-year-old girl was killed on Feb. 10, 1999, and her body was found by a passer-by in the middle of Pine Point Road in Scarborough. Her death remains an unsolved case.

Scarborough police used social media this week to let her family and friends know that the case remains under investigation. The police department posted several photographs of Ouellette on their Facebook page Wednesday.

Ouellette, whose death was ruled a homicide by strangulation, was a sophomore at Thornton Academy in Saco at the time.

“No one deserves to have their life end in this way, especially not a 15-year-old child,” the police department wrote. “Seventeen years of waiting for people who have been hiding information to finally come forward. Now is the time.

“If you have any information that you have held back in sharing for any reason, please reach out today. We need those missing puzzle pieces to finally bring justice to the Ouellette family.”

Anyone with information about the girl’s death should contact Detective Don Blatchford at 730-4312.
