SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Offense continued to plague the University of Maine men’s hockey team Friday night, and Notre Dame capitalized, scoring three goals in the third period for a 4-1 victory in a Hockey East game.

Notre Dame (17-5-7, 13-2-2) took the lead when Thomas DiPauli scored his 11th of the year from Mario Lucia and Connor Hurley after 4:08, but Andrew Tegeler tied it with his second of the season from Daniel Perez and Mark Hamilton for Maine (7-18-6, 4-11-2).

The score remained 1-1 heading to the third period before the Fighting Irish took the lead for good when Jack Jenkins scored at 9:38 and Mario Lucia added a goal just 2:29 later on a power play from DiPauli and Anders Bjork.

Matt Morris of Maine stopped 39 shots. Cal Petersen had 21 saves for Notre Dame.

CASTLETON STATE 8, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: Fabio Klay had a hat trick for the Spartans (8-15-1, 7-9-1 New England Hockey) against the Huskies (7-16-1, 4-13) at Rutland, Vermont.

Dan Fitzgerald scored at 2:42 of the first period for Castleton before Brett Norman tied it from Daniel Mattsson and Alex Pantalone.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 4, SKIDMORE 3: Armand Uomoleale scored his second goal of the game with 2:45 left in the third period to break a 3-3 tie and lift the Nor’easters (13-9-2, 9-7-1 New England Hockey) over the Thoroughbreds (5-15-4, 5-9-3) at Saratoga Springs, New York.

Blaise Healy added one goal and one assist for the Nor’easters, and Tom Gildersleeve scored one goal.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 4, BOWDOIN 1: Jordan Cross had one goal and two assists for the Camels (13-7-1, 7-5-1 NESCAC), who took the lead after 11 seconds and used a pair of third-period goals to pull away from the Polar Bears (8-10-2, 5-7-1) at New London, Connecticut.

The Bowdoin goal was scored by Ariana Bourque from Julie Dachille to cut the deficit to 2-1 with 2:33 left in the first period.

MIDDLEBURY 2, COLBY 1: Maddie Winslow and Janka Hlinka scored during a three- minute stretch midway through the third period as the Panthers (14-4-3, 10-0-3 NESCAC) rallied to beat the Mules (5-14-3, 3-11-1) at Waterville.

Colby opened the scoring 11:58 into the second period when Megan Fortier and Kat Mackey assisted on a goal by Katie McLaughlin.

CONNECTICUT 2, MAINE 1: Leah Buress scored at 2:41 of overtime as the Huskies (12-13-5, 8-9-3 Hockey East) edged the Black Bears (10-19-2, 6-15-1) at Storrs, Connecticut.

Leah Lum gave Connecticut the lead at 10:48 of the first period from Britanny Berisoff and Jaime Fox. Emilie Brigham tied it on a power play from Audra Richards with 5:33 to play in regulation.

NORWICH 1, SOUTHERN MAINE 0: Adelle Murphy scored midway through the second period and the Cadets (16-6-0, 13-1-0 New England Hockey) held off the Huskies (3-16-2, 2-10-2) at Northfield, Vermont.

Courtney Davis finished with 44 saves for the Huskies, who were outshot 45-6 by Norwich.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 2, CASTLETON STATE 1: Kimberly Gosselin scored the go-ahead goal 1:44 into the third period and the Nor’easters (12-7-2, 7-6-1 New England Hockey) held off the Spartans (14-6-2, 9-4-1) at Rutland, Vermont.

UNE fell behind early in the second period but tied it when Shannon Smith scored from Gabby Crugnale and Carly Perreault with 3:25 left in the period.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

COLBY 83, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 73: Luke Westman scored a game-high 22 points and Ryan Jann finished with 19 to lead the Mules (15-8, 3-6 NESCAC) over the Camels (12-11, 3-6) at Waterville.

Pat Dickert scored a pair of baskets to key a 9-0 Colby run that extended its lead to 55-44 with 11:43 left. The Mules led by as many as 15 points down the stretch.

BOWDOIN 80, WESLEYAN 71: The Polar Bears (10-10, 2-6 NESCAC) opened with an 18-7 run in the first 6:38 of the second half and downed the Cardinals (18-4, 5-3) at Brunswick.

Jack Simonds had 15 of his game-high 27 points in the first half as Bowdoin took a 36-33 lead.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

BOWDOIN 74, WESLEYAN 35: Shannon Brady scored a game-high 16 points to pace the Polar Bears (18-5, 7-2 NESCAC) against the Cardinals (7-14, 1-8) at Middletown, Connecticut.

Hannah Graham added 11 points for Bowdoin, which led 33-20 at halftime and went on a 25-6 run in the fourth quarter.

CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 69, COLBY 63: Mairead Hynes scored a game-high 18 points for the Camels (17-5, 6-3 NESCAC), who built an eight-point lead early in the fourth quarter and held off the Mules (13-10, 5-4) at New London, Connecticut.

BABSON 69, BATES 58: Kristen Ferola scored 19 points, and Linnett Graber added 14 points and 15 rebounds for the Beavers (18-5), who took a 17-6 first-quarter lead and led by as many as 18 to beat the Bobcats (8-14) at Babson Park, Massachusetts.
