SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The University of Maine men generated plenty of offensive pressure, but their scoring woes continued in a 5-1 Hockey East loss to Notre Dame on Saturday night.

The Black Bears (7-19-6, 4-12-2) put 41 shots on Cal Petersen, but couldn’t beat the Fighting Irish goalie until Brendan Robbins scored with 2:49 left in the third, with the game out of reach.

Jake Evans had a goal and two assists for Notre Dame, which led 3-0 after two periods, then got goals from Anders Bjork and Dylan Malmquist in the first five minutes of the third.

Maine’s Matt Morris stopped 23 shots in 47:25 for Maine. Rob McGovern was perfect on seven shots.

UNE 5, CASTLETON 5: Brady Fleurent, Tom Gildersleeve and Dustin Walsh scored in a span of just over six minutes, and UNE (13-9-3, 7-9-2 NEHC) rallied from a three-goal, third-period deficit for a tie with Castleton State (8-15-2, 7-9-2) at Rutland, Vermont.

Fleurent finished with two goals and two assists.

USM 3, SKIDMORE 2: Tyler Mathieu scored 19 seconds into overtime to lift the Huskies (8-16-1, 5-13 NEHC) over the Thoroughbreds (5-16-4, 5-10-3) at Saratoga Springs, New York.

Parker Sanderson and Blue Hayler also scored for USM.

BOWDOIN 8, WESLEYAN 2: Matthew Lison had two goals and an assist, Matt Rubinoff had a goal and three assists, and the Polar Bears (11-7-3, 7-5-3 NESCAC) routed Wesleyan (2-11-8, 2-6-7) at Brunswick.

Cody Todesco and Camil Blanchet each added a goal and an assist for Bowdoin.

TRINITY 4, COLBY 2: Anthony Sabitsky scored the go-ahead goal with 1:22 left, and the Bantams (16-4-1, 12-3 NESCAC) used four third-period goals to rally at Colby (7-10-4, 4-9-2).

Colby got a power-play goal from Devin Albert in the second. Kevin Doherty made it 2-1 for with with 7:02 left in the third.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

CONNECTICUT 4, MAINE 3: Brittany Berisoff scored twice in the first nine minutes, Elaine Chuli turned aside 33 shots, and the host Huskies (14-13-5, 10-9-3 Hockey East) held off the Black Bears (10-21-2, 6-17-1) in Maine’s regular-season finale.

Allyson Matteau had a goal and an assist for Maine. Anna Wright and Audra Richards also scored.

CASTLETON STATE 3, USM 2: Morgan Richard scored on a slapshot with 14.6 seconds left to lift the Spartans (15-6-2, 10-4-1 NEHC) over the Huskies (3-17-2, 2-13-2) at Rutland, Vermont.

Castleton took a 2-0 lead in the first, but the Huskies’ Cassandra Sherman and Emilee Burris scored twice in a 49-second span just before the end of the period.

CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 4, BOWDOIN 3: Jordan Cross had two goals and an assist, all in the first, and the host Camels (14-7-1, 8-5-1 NESCAC) held off the Polar Bears (8-11-2, 5-8-1).

Miranda Bell and Julie Dachille each had a goal and an assist for Bowdoin, which trailed 4-1 after two periods.

MIDDLEBURY 1, COLBY 0: Jessica Young scored in the second, Kiana Verplancke made 18 saves, and the Panthers (15-4-3, 11-0-3 NESCAC) edged Colby (5-15-3, 3-12-1) at Waterville.

NORWICH 5, UNE 0: Maki Shuchuk had a goal and an assist for the Cadets (17-6, 14-1 NEHC), and Celeste Robert needed just 12 saves to shut out UNE (12-8-2, 7-7-1) at Northfield, Vermont.
