Great Maine Weekend, all week everywhere

Join in the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend, now in its seventh year, with events taking place at land trusts and outdoor organizations throughout the state. The Maine Outdoor Coalition, a network of outdoor partners who organize the event, is working to bring greater awareness of the outdoors to people across Maine. Reid State Park Outing, 8:30 a.m. in Georgetown

Snowshoe Adventure, 1 p.m. in Bangor

Join the Bangor Land Trust for a snowshoe trek across the West Penjajawoc Grasslands to the Penjajawoc Marsh. Bring snowshoes, skis, ice walkers and poles. Salter Brook Trout, 7 p.m. in Scarborough

Join the Sebago chapter of Trout Unlimited for their monthly meeting and learn about sea-run brook trout, or “salters.” Geoffrey Day, co-founder and executive director of the Sea Run Brook Trout Coalition, will share what he’s learned. His presentation will be followed by Trout Unlimited’s Jeff Reardon talking about Maine’s Downeast salters, and then Jacob Aman of the Wells Reserve. Join Merrymeeting Audubon for a program on birding along the upper Texas coast. Texas boasts barrier islands, coastal marshes, prairies, southern pine forests and nearly 500 bird species.
