Police are investigating the death of a Portland man whose body was found inside his vehicle at the Shaw’s parking lot Saturday morning in Westbrook.

Westbrook police said the body of Paul Spaltro, 48, who was reported missing by his family Wednesday, was found inside his vehicle at the supermarket parking lot at 25 Main St. about 8 a.m.

Police said it appeared that Spaltro’s death was not suspicious. His golden retriever was found unharmed in the vehicle and was turned over to family members.

Spaltro, who had been living at Motel 6 on Riverside Street in Portland, was last heard from on Tuesday, family members told police.

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the cause and circumstances of Spaltro’s death, police said.
