An Aroostook County man who imported bath salts from China to sell illegally in Maine for several years was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Bangor to serve three years in prison.

Preston Brown Sr., 51, of Woodland had pleaded guilty before Judge John Woodcock Jr. on Sept. 16 to conspiracy to possess and distribute bath salts.

Brown conspired with others in Aroostook County from June 2012 to June 2014 to buy and sell bath salts for a profit. He ordered the drug from China for both personal use and to sell to others, according to court records.

The judge also sentenced Brown to serve three years of supervised release after his prison term and pay a $1,000 fine.
