Isaiah Blackwell, 19, has grown up around horses as his mother, Jackie Blackwell, owns and operates High Standard Stable in Wells. Isaiah has been helping out with duties as barn manager for about the last seven years, and most-recently, in between school decisions. He says he most enjoys being around and working with the horses, but finds the bitter cold of winter not only uncomfortable, but a challenge as pipes can freeze, making his job difficult when providing drinking water for the horses. Along with filling water buckets, Isaiah’s job includes cleaning out stalls, blanketing the horses, and preparing their meals of grain and hay, in addition to making sure each horse has their proper supplements and medications.
