A fire Wednesday in a warehouse at a composting business on Industrial Way produced a huge amount of smoke but caused very little damage, said the Portland Fire Department.

Deputy Fire Chief Shawn Neat said that when firefighters arrived at 57 Industrial Way around 4:30 p.m., they encountered a significant amount of smoke coming from a pickup truck in the warehouse.

Neat said firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. The truck was damaged, but the fire did not spread to the warehouse, which is owned by Garbage to Garden.

Garbage to Garden offers curbside composting collection at homes, schools and businesses.
