AUBURNDALE, Fla. — Jameson Collins had two hits with five RBI, and St. Joseph’s College beat Montclair State University 13-11 in a nonconference baseball game on Tuesday.

The Monks improved to 4-1, and the Red Hawks dropped to 3-3.

Collins hit a two-run double in the first inning and a three-run homer in the fifth.

Nic Lops added three hits, including a two-run homer during a five-run second, with three RBI and three runs scored for the Monks.

St. Joseph’s took the lead for good on a single by Brett Barbati that scored Taylor Reuillard in the sixth. Barbati also had three hits.

MIAMI 6, MAINE 2: The Hurricanes (10-2) went ahead 6-1 with four runs in the seventh inning and defeated the Black Bears (3-7) at Coral Gables, Florida.

Willie Abreu hit a two-run single, Brandon Lopez hit an RBI double and Jacob Heyward singled in the other run during the rally.

Colin Ridley had three hits, including an RBI single in the eighth for Maine.

Jeremy Pena hit a solo homer in the first for the Black Bears.

Starter Justin Courtney pitched six strong innings, allowing one earned run and six hits, while walking three and striking out three.

SOFTBALL

MAINE, PENN SPLIT: The Black Bears rallied to win the opener 10-9 in 10 innings before being shut out 3-0 by Alexis Sargent and the Quakers in the second game of a doubleheader at Clearwater, Florida.

Felicia Lennon drove in Rachel Carlson in the top of the 10th, and Annie Kennedy, who relieved starter Erin Bogdanovich in the second, closed the door in the bottom of the inning for her first win.

Kennedy allowed one earned run in 81/3 innings.

Maine (2-1) trailed 8-3 after three innings before chipping away for five runs over the next three. Each team added a single run in the eighth.

Carlson, Rachel Harvey and Alyssa Derrick each had three hits for the Black Bears and combined for six runs scored. Harvey led the way with three.

Sargent (2-1) pitched a four-hitter with seven strikeouts and Jurie Joyner hit a two-run single in the second game for the Quakers (3-4).

Starter Molly Flowers (1-1) struck out six in six innings for Maine.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

BOWDOIN 15, UNE 3: Lindsay Picard had four goals and an assist as the Polar Bears (1-1) handled the University of New England (2-2) at Brunswick.

Megan O’Connor added three goals and an assist for Bowdoin, which led 11-0 at halftime.

Korinne Bohunsky scored twice for the Nor’easters.

MEN’S LACROSSE

MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 16, ST. JOSEPH’S 7: Ted Powers had five goals and two assists to lead the Buccaneers (2-0) to a victory over the Monks (1-2) at Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts.

Michael Finn had three goals and Jack O’Brien finished with two goals and two assists for the Monks, who outscored the Buccaneers 6-3 in the fourth quarter.
