The race won’t be run until Aug. 6, but competitors in the 19th annual TD Beach to Beacon 10K in Cape Elizabeth have already set a mark for the filling 4,000 runners’ slots in record time.

General registration opened at 7 a.m. Friday and was filled in three minutes, 43 seconds.

Cape Elizabeth residents on Thursday filled their 600 slots in a record five minutes, 24 seconds.

Runners now have until midnight on March 20 to register for one of the 1,950 remaining bibs available through the lottery, which will be drawn on March 22. The fee for entering the lottery is $50. Runners can sign up for it at www.beach2beacon.org.

Last year’s race winners were Stephen Kosgei Kibet of Kenya and Wude Ayalew of Ethiopia. Eric Jenkins and Alexi Pappas were the top American finishers.
