HIDALGO, Texas — Montrezl Harrell, Raphiael Putney, Jaron Johnson and Will Cummings all topped 19 points as the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (24-20) beat the Atlantic Division-leading Maine Red Claws 137-111 at the State Farm Arena.

After a seven-game winning streak, Maine (28-19) has lost four straight.

Rio Grande Valley took command in the second quarter, scoring 44 points to break away from a 29-29 tie. Harrell and Putney sparked the rally with strong inside play for a lead that reached 73-51 before Maine’s Coty Clarke and Coron Williams made back-to-back 3-pointers to close out the half with the Claws trailing, 73-57.

Harrell finished with 24 points and Putney 23. Johnson and Cummings scored 19 for the Vipers.

Clarke led Maine with 22 points and seven rebounds, and James Young had 21 points and six rebounds. Omari Johnson added 15 points for Maine, and Levi Randolph had 13 and Marcus Thornton 10.
