The New England Council, an alliance of business, academic, public and private institutions that promotes economic growth throughout the region, has elected Dan Walker, an attorney with Portland firm PretiFlaherty, to its board of directors.

Walker, of Freeport, is a partner and the chair of PretiFlaherty’s government affairs group. Walker’s practice is centered on advocating for clients before the Maine Legislature, the executive branch and other state and federal governmental agencies with a particular focus on regulatory issues and election law. Walker received his A.B. from Dartmouth College and he received his J.D. from University of Maine School of Law.

He joins Thomas Croswell of Tufts Health Plan; Victoria Reggie Kennedy of Greenberg Traurig; Chris MacKenzie of RSM US; Marty Meehan of the University of Massachusetts; and Jesse Villarreal of Santander as newly elected board members, according to a release from the council.
