The death of an employee inside a Dunkin’ Donuts shop in North Windham early Saturday morning appears to have been drug-related, police said Sunday.

In a news release Sunday, Windham police said their investigation of the death “shows no evidence of foul play and it does appear to be drug-related.”

The victim was identified as 35-year-old Erica Foster of Windham. Authorities were called to the Dunkin’ Donuts at 736 Roosevelt Trail around 1:39 a.m. Saturday after a co-worker found Foster unconscious and not breathing in the bathroom.

Deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office performed CPR until a crew from the Windham Fire and Rescue department arrived. Efforts to resuscitate Foster were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A toxicology test performed by the state medical examiner’s office will be used to determine the exact cause of death.
