DUNBARTON, N.H. — Three New Hampshire gun ranges have been selected as finalists to host a reality TV show, described as the “American Idol of shooting.”
The Concord Monitor reports the private sport shooting and archery club Pioneer Sportsmen in Dunbarton is a finalist, along with shooting ranges in Hinsdale and Hudson.
The three-level American Marksman competition is slated to air on the Outdoor Channel and Sportsman Channel.
The timed competition involves shooting targets from 20 feet and 30 feet using .22-caliber pistols and rifles. The winner receives a $50,000 prize.
Competitors can register online for a $20 fee. Professional shooters cannot compete.
Contestants can shoot from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Fridays and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, beginning this weekend through next month.
